According to the American Psychiatric Association:
"More than 90% of autistic children and adults had sensory responsiveness interfering with their everyday lives, symptoms persist across all age and IQ levels."
The purpose of my capstone is to design a sensory input tool for people dealing with sensory needs. The people most likely to experience this are people with Autism, ADHD, and Sensory Processing Disorder.
With a reliable tool to help relieve stress from either too much, or too little sensory input, people would focus better. If implemented at a young age, they can also learn how to self-soothe in these aforementioned situations.
The direction I'm going towards will be either weighted pads, weighted stuffed animals, or round objects that provide multiple engaging textures.
